“Electrifying,” “honest,” “unpredictable,” and “timely,” were just some of the words used to describe this unforgettable evening. Margaret Atwood in conversation with Min Jin Lee, expertly moderated by Veronica Chambers in NYC, at Symphony Space on October 15.

The event was almost sold out, which shows how our literary luminaries, especially women who write compelling stories on the human condition, can serve as guiding lights, even in uncertain times.

The Carol Shields Prize Foundation was a proud co-organizer of this amazing meeting of generations, cultures, and brilliant minds, which highlighted the importance of centering women’s rights, cautioned us against authoritarianism, and exemplified what literary fiction can offer us in our discussions about a more equitable future.

After the conversations, The Carol Shields Prize Foundation hosted a small reception for our community of writers, literary partners, board directors, and old and new friends of the Prize. 2023 CSPF Finalist Daphne Palasi Andreades and 2024 CSPF Finalist Kim Coleman Foote were able to attend, connect with each other, and meet one of their literary icons, Margaret Atwood.

We are still sharing videos from the wonderful evening on Instagram, so make sure to give us a follow and stay tunned!

Thank you to our co-organizers, Symphony Space and Moment of Lift Books. Much gratitude to our Co-Founder Susan Swan for her vision, our friends at Pivotal Ventures for their partnership, to our Board of Directors, and all of our supporters.

Bringing together women and non-binary authors from multiple generations, at different stages of their careers, is a major goal of the Carol Shields Prize Foundation.
